Stevie B - Dreamin' of Love (Vocal)

Stevie B, often dubbed the King of Freestyle, seems to be a favorite of Nandy's as this is one of her two Stevie B records. And I'm grateful, because all his singles are classics. Every 11 year old has skated to a Stevie B track at one time in their life, right?

Check this ish out cause the man lays it down like a glass carpet. I'll post the other Stevie B record some other fateful Friday. Enjoy.

Worn Copy: Francis Albert Sinatra and Antonio Carlos Jobim - How Insensitive (Insensatez)

Occasionally, Foundvinyl will feature a recording that has suffered from bad care from their previous owner and from the staff of the thrift store. Although these recordings may not sound the way they were originally intended, the damage suffered to the recording has left a unique thumbprint that will never be reproduced. I recognize that transferring these recordings to a digital format compromises the integrity of that "thumbprint" but hopefully the versions posted on Foundvinyl will do some justice. Thanks and keep on listening.

I've been sick all week so that's why this post is so belated. I've been digging on this record all week because it's one of the few I can listen to with this monster headache. Enjoy.

ONE WEEK ONLY: Discocross N.2 unabridged

This week Nandy provides Foundvinyl with it's first DJ mix. The record was produced in Italy and mixed by some Italian guys I never heard of (Chisura, Baldelli, Brandi). All of the notes are in Italian and it's on an Italian label, but like all other Italo disco, none of the songs are in Italian. Discocross clocks in at about 40 minutes with each side or lato clocking it at 20 minutes. Lato B is the superior side but the first 2 tracks and the last track on Lato A are incredible.

Because it's a mix I decided to throw the whole record on here uncut. It's only going to be up for a week though because it's a pretty huge file, so get it while you can.

Cerrone - Look For Love

What can I say about this record? Nothing really, except that it's the shit. I may or may not have actually jumped up and down when I came across it this week. And let's not talk about the post freak out, nervous anticipation of checking the sleeve to make sure the right record was in there. Nothing hurts your ego more than freaking out about an awesome record only to check the sleeve to find a Barbara Streisand record within. By the way, if I had a dollar for every Barbara Streisand record I came across in the thrift store, I'd be a millionaire. Even the suckers who bought those fucking records got rid of them, all of them. But I digress.

Cerrone is the greatest disco producer of all time next to Giorgio Moroder and this record is no disappointment. Clocking in at just over 10 minutes, "Look For Love" is the most epic of the 4 songs that could be crammed in on one disc. I didn't make a short version this time because all 10 minutes of it are well worth it and it never feels like it drags.

By the way, I found this at the brand new Goodwill on Curry Ford. It's really nice and doesn't smell like old people yet so if you've got the time check it out.

Junior - Mama Used To Say (English Party Mix)

Nandy didn't leave too many clues this time. No circled, starred, or crossed out songs on this one; just the Nandy label on the front and the letters "R" and "I" real big on the b-side written in black permanent marker. Suffice to say because there weren't any circled tracks, I ignored this record until I listened to it this week. Though it drags on a little long, I thought it was too good to sit on. So I moved it up to this week.

Nu Shooz - I Can't Wait

This week, a rare (good) American new-wave track. One of my favorite dance tracks of all time, I Can't Wait by Nu Shooz. I'll throw on the B-Side later this week if enough people download this one.

Santa Esmeralda - Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood

In an effort to post more often, I'm making Friday "Nandy Day". Which means every Friday comes with more Nandy love. And love comes in no short amount this Friday; or lust for that matter. This week, a Quentin Tarantino favorite, Santa Esmeralda's "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood". A Latin/Disco, cover of a cover, and an epic one at that. This one clocks in at about 15 minutes, basically the entire first side of the record, so I edited it down to a shorter version. But I left the long one for your extended listening pleasure.

Nandy circled the entire first side and and "You're My Everything" on the second. This one has seen it's better days as the ends of the sleeve are frayed, leaving part of the record exposed.

Edwyn Collins - 50 Shades of Blue

I had some different plans for what I was going to post this week, but I ran across this article and I decided it was definitely time to throw up some Edwyn Collins. Since suffering from two massive strokes in 2005, Mr. Collins has begun preforming again. But because of the damage done to his brain, he is now suffering from dysphasia and can't remember his own songs. From The Observer via CNN: "After my stroke I'd lost all the songs I ever wrote. I could recognize them as mine when I heard them on stereo but I couldn't remember any lyrics. That took ages, writing them out and relearning all the phrasing."

Here's "50 Shades of Blue" from the eponymous EP. Later this week I'll post a B-Side from the same EP.

EDIT (May 16th): Only one person downloaded this one so I'll save myself the time posting a B-Side. I'd still love to though, so comment if you want me to post one.
